Rug Size Guide

Selecting the correct size according to your space is incredibly important. It's very important to measure up your space before deciding on the rug size to ensure your rug is both balanced and functional in your space.

Here are some tips:

  • Bigger is better. Just a couple centimetres can make a huge difference in any space. If you're in between two sizes, it's recommended to go with the size larger. Essentially, big rugs make the room look bigger.
  • Use some good old tape to mark out the placement before you buy. This way you are able to visualise the size beforehand and you can make sure it fits perfectly.

LIVING ROOM:

  • Ensure that your rug is wider than your coffee table. This way the rug isn't only framing your coffee table but your entire living room.
  • If the rug is touching the walls, this may make the rug look oversized.
  • Don’t get a small size rug for large living areas. Use a rug to define the space and incorporate your furniture to secure the rug.

ALL LEGS ON RUG:
This space and furniture arrangement requires the largest rug. This is essentially the best choice for a living room as it defines the space perfect.
Depending on your space, the sizes we recommend for this is:
200 x 300 cm
250 x 300 cm
300 x 400 cm

 FRONT LEGS ON RUG:
This is a great option if you're not wanting or do not have the space for a large rug. Having the two front legs on your couch can also bring together a space nicely, this way the rug will perfectly shape the area without looking undersized.
Depending on your space, the sizes we recommend for this:
200 x 300 cm
170 x 270 cm

DINING ROOM:

It is VERY important that you select a rug that extends beyond the chairs, this way the chair is still on the rug when pulled out. It can be a safety hazard as a chair can get caught with the rug.
Depending on your space, the sizes we recommend for this:
250 x 300 cm
250 x 350 cm
270 x 370 cm
300 x 400 cm

BEDROOM:

  • If you are wanting to put a rug under your whole bed, it is VERY important that the rug under the bed gets vacuumed and aired out every month. Moths love to eat up rugs and any rug in a dark and cool place, they will get to it. Ultimately, if a rug gets moth damage, to get it repaired will be very expensive.
  • Remember that if you are choosing patterned rug, that the bed may cover most of the pattern.
  • Small rugs can be used effectively by placing rugs on either sides of the bed.

BED & BED SIDE TABLES ON RUG

This style may only work in large spaces, in smaller spaces, it might be too overwhelming. Ensure to leave some space between the rug and walls as this may overcrowd the space.

Depending on your space, the sizes we recommend for this:

200 x 300 cm

250 x 300 cm

HALF OF BED ON RUG:

This is the more popular option as it can look less crowded and frame the space perfectly.

Depending on your space, the sizes we recommend for this:

170 x 270 cm

200 x 300 cm
