What is Personal Information and Why Do We Collect It?

Personal Information is information or an opinion that identifies an individual. Examples of Personal Information we collect include names, addresses, email addresses, and phone numbers.

This Personal Information is obtained in many ways including correspondence, by email, via our website www.najaf.com.au, from cookies, and from third parties. We don't guarantee the website links or policies of authorised third parties.

We collect your Personal Information for the primary purpose of providing our services to you, processing orders, arranging delivery, and communicating with you about your purchases. We may also use your Personal Information for secondary purposes closely related to the primary purpose, in circumstances where you would reasonably expect such use or disclosure — such as informing you about new products, collections, or offers.

You may unsubscribe from our mailing and marketing lists at any time by contacting us in writing or by using the unsubscribe link included in any marketing email.

When we collect Personal Information we will, where appropriate and where possible, explain to you why we are collecting the information and how we plan to use it.

Collecting Personal Information

When you visit our Site, we collect certain information about your device, your interaction with the Site, and information necessary to process your purchases. We may also collect additional information if you contact us for customer support.

Device information — collected automatically using cookies, log files, web beacons, tags, or pixels. This includes your web browser version, IP address, time zone, cookie information, pages and products you view, search terms, and how you interact with the Site. This information is shared with Shopify and Google Analytics to help us load the Site accurately and optimise its performance.

Order information — collected directly from you during checkout. This includes your name, billing and shipping address, payment information, email address, and phone number. We use this to fulfil your order, process payment, arrange shipping, send invoices and order confirmations, and screen for potential fraud. This information is shared with Shopify, payment gateways, and shipping and fulfilment providers.

Customer support information — collected directly from you when you contact us, including your name, email address, order details, and any other information you choose to share. We use this to provide customer support and resolve enquiries.

Sensitive Information

Sensitive information is defined in the Privacy Act to include information or opinion about such things as an individual's racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, membership of a political association, religious or philosophical beliefs, membership of a trade union or other professional body, criminal record, or health information.

We do not intentionally collect sensitive information. If sensitive information is provided to us, it will be used only for the primary purpose for which it was obtained, for a secondary purpose directly related to the primary purpose, with your consent, or where required or authorised by law.

Third Parties

Where reasonable and practicable to do so, we will collect your Personal Information only from you. However, in some circumstances we may be provided with information by third parties. In such a case we will take reasonable steps to ensure that you are made aware of the information provided to us by the third party.

Sharing Personal Information

We share your Personal Information with service providers to help us provide our services and fulfil our contracts with you. We use Shopify to power our online store — you can read more about how Shopify uses your Personal Information at shopify.com/legal/privacy. We use Google Analytics to help us understand how our customers use the Site — you can read more at policies.google.com/privacy, and you can opt out at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. We may also share your Personal Information to comply with applicable laws and regulations, or to respond to a lawful request for information.

Disclosure of Personal Information

Your Personal Information may be disclosed to third parties where you consent to the use or disclosure, or where required or authorised by law.

Behavioural Advertising

We may use your Personal Information to provide you with targeted advertisements or marketing communications we believe may be of interest to you. You can opt out of targeted advertising by visiting Google at google.com/settings/ads/anonymous or Facebook at facebook.com/settings/?tab=ads. You can also opt out via the Digital Advertising Alliance's portal at optout.aboutads.info.

Using Personal Information

We use your Personal Information to provide our services to you, which includes offering products for sale, processing payments, shipping and fulfilment of your order, and keeping you up to date on new products, services, and offers.

Security of Personal Information

Your Personal Information is stored in a manner that reasonably protects it from misuse and loss and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. When your Personal Information is no longer needed for the purpose for which it was obtained, we will take reasonable steps to destroy or permanently de-identify it. Most Personal Information will be stored in client files kept by us for a minimum of 7 years.

Retention

When you place an order through the Site, we will retain your Personal Information for our records unless and until you ask us to erase this information.

Automatic Decision-Making

Our processor Shopify uses limited automated decision-making to prevent fraud. This includes a temporary blacklist of IP addresses associated with repeated failed transactions (lasting a small number of hours) and a temporary blacklist of credit cards associated with those IP addresses (lasting a small number of days). This does not have a legal or otherwise significant effect on you.

Your Rights and Access to Your Personal Information

You may access the Personal Information we hold about you and update and/or correct it, subject to certain exceptions. Please contact us in writing using the contact details above. Najaf Rugs will not charge any fee for your access request, but may charge an administrative fee for providing a copy of your Personal Information. We may require identification from you before releasing the requested information.

If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA), you also have the right to port your Personal Information to a new service and to request its erasure. Please contact us using the details above to exercise these rights.

Maintaining the Quality of Your Personal Information

It is important to us that your Personal Information is up to date. We will take reasonable steps to make sure that your Personal Information is accurate, complete and up to date. If you find that the information we have is not up to date or is inaccurate, please advise us as soon as practicable so we can update our records.

Cookies

A cookie is a small amount of information downloaded to your computer or device when you visit our Site. We use functional, performance, advertising, and analytics cookies to make your browsing experience better and to understand how people use our website. Most browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can manage or block them through your browser settings. For more information visit www.allaboutcookies.org. Please note that blocking cookies may impact your experience and some parts of the Site may no longer be fully accessible.

We use cookies provided by Shopify (for store functionality and checkout) and Google Analytics (for reporting). A full list of cookies used is available on request.

Do Not Track

Because there is no consistent industry understanding of how to respond to "Do Not Track" signals, we do not alter our data collection and usage practices when we detect such a signal from your browser.

Policy Updates

This Privacy Policy may change from time to time to reflect changes to our practices or for operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. The current version is always available on our website at www.najaf.com.au.

Complaints

If you have any queries or complaints about our Privacy Policy, please contact us at info@najaf.com.au. If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au/privacy/privacy-complaints.
